So you are a man, or your man has a little time on his hands, maybe retired or just looking for ways to remain in touch with other people or with life in general. You might be good with your hands or a tradesman of some kind in your past life?

The best way to get a "man out of the house" is for him to have a shed where he can do the things he really likes. Let us face it, most things men really like to achieve cannot be done in the house, they usually just make way too much of a mess and "the lady of the house would not approve". Thus the need for his own domain, his shed!
Some men like to dabble in their dream of building things, whether in wood or steel or some other material, and others like to try their hand at creating something special in the way of the arts. Others like models, trains, airplanes and even larger scale mini-cars etc. His shed is where he can just work away and when he is called for dinner NOT have to think about "cleaning up after themselves". Maybe it is not a literal shed out the back in the yard, it may be just the spare room that "shall never be entered without permission!"

About The Australian Men Shed Association
This is a group or men and women that have gather together to promote a movement that was established in 2007. The idea came from the shed most men have in the backyard.
The Men's Shed has long been an Australian tradition, almost a culture! A place for the man to go play work or just fiddle around or just have a beer with the boys. The Australian Men Shed Association currently has some 400 Member sheds representing something like 30,000 men across Australia. In fact the AMSA is the largest men's support organisation in the country.
You might like to SHARE YOUR INTEREST and hobbies as they just might inspire another person to get involved in a new hobby.
They do have an official website www.mensshed.org shown above. They offer a regular newsletter, news of current events and access to the discussion forum. You are also able to contact them by telephone on 1300 550 009 between the hours or 10am until 4pm week days.
It should be noted that Men's Sheds are springing up all around Australia. You might in a position to assist is setting up a shed or just wish to join.

"If you looked inside one you might see a number of men restoring furniture, perhaps restoring bicycles for a local school, maybe making Mynah bird traps or fixing lawn mowers or making a kids cubby house for Camp Quality to raffle. You might also see a few young men working with the older men learning new skills and maybe also learning something about life from the men they work with. You will see tea-bags, coffee cups and a comfortable area where men can sit and talk. You will probably also see an area where men can learn to cook for themselves or they can learn how to contact their families by computer.
It should be noted that the AMSA is a not for profit organisation and they are a registered Health Promotion Charity and are endorsed as a Tax Deductible Gift Recipient. Donations are tax deductible.
