It becomes more and more important to regularly exercise the brain. Brain games and mental exercises are a great ways to help stimulate the brain and keep it running in good order.

The facts tell us that those that frequently engage in mentally stimulating activities, are a whopping 63% less likely to develop dementia. Those that are over 50 who play a mentally challenging brain games daily for a few weeks are able to dramatically improve memory.

The following are a few way to help keep your brain young

Start mind stimulation

Research seems to be showing that that brainy activities, help stimulate new connections between nerve cells and may even help the brain generate brand new cells, which also help against future cell loss

Most mentally stimulating activity in most cases will assist help build up the brain. Reading regularly helps as will mental gymnastics and that's not to say physical would not help because it will, a little walking every day as an example gives you time to think. The correct blood pressure

High blood is not good! High blood pressure in those of 50 increases can increase the risk of cognitive decline in later years. Have blood pressure checked regularly. Keep the body in a lean state, exercise regularly and keep an eye on the alcohol, reduce the stress levels and eat better foods.

Watch the blood sugar levels

Diabetes is a very serious complex condition that can and does affect the entire body. If and when complications develop, diabetes can impact on quality of life and can make a difference to life expectancy. Diabetes can be managed to certain extent however there is currently no cure. Remember all types of diabetes are complex and serious. The main types of diabetes are type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes.

Diabetes is an important risk factor for dementia. Changes in the diet, eat better foods, exercising regularly, and staying on the lean side will all help. If the blood sugar remains high, the boy may require medication to keep it in check.

However excessive drinking it seems is a major risk factor for dementia! When partaking in the consumption of alcohol it is idea to limit the intake to two drinks a day. However if alcohol is drank responsibly, this may in fact actually reduce your risk of dementia. Some studies have shown that a low-dose of alcohol could reduce risk of dementia in those over 50.

Emotions

Sometimes not an easy task, but keeping control of the emotions can be an important factor in good mental health. Emotions that are spontaneously experienced and expressed without prudence or attachment tend to flow fluidly. Then repressed emotions like fear, negative anxious, nervous, depressed, worried, ones will drain mental energy as will sleep-deprivation or exhaustion and all these can lead to other health problems

Head protection

Protect the head, the head is one of the heaviest parts of the body and needs to be protect from the sun and injury. Just a moderate head injury any time in life can increase the risk of cognitive impairment as we age.

Build social networks
