Feeling Good at 50!

While keeping fit should a goal, that does not mean we need to create an urgency situation. Most Australian Men still would like to look good and feel happy. So it goes without saying that exercising regularly is the strongest medicine. It is said that physical activity is in many cases the most effective prescription medical practitioners can prescribe for men over 50, for keeping fit and for promoting successful aging.

The evidence is already out there and it keeps gathering momentum: Some exercise every day helps protect the heart, builds muscle, strengthens bones, relaxes arteries, fights cancer, increases the libido, has a great effect on erections, boosts the immune system, and improves brain health!

All it takes is a little time and a first step. STEP - Great place to start, Steps, get up and go for steady paced walk, start with 20 minutes every day with a step goal of say 2000 steps and build that up to a faster pace and more steps.

Something to keep in mind - Regular exercise it is said can delay and may reverse the aging of process of the arteries. Also exercise lifts the heart rate, which in turn helps increase blood flow. Of course a better blood flow will create more friction on the blood vessel's linings which, in turn, stimulates the production of nitric oxide. All this just from a little exercise?

The production of nitric oxide helps improve the ability of the arteries to dilate and assists in reducing inflammation and oxidative stress, all this helps to protect arteries from developing disorders.

Target Age with Muscle

Once the age of 50 is reached in men the sedentary muscle loss speeds up and men lose around 10% of the muscle mass every decade after. This can lead to osteoporosis. A short daily workout should include some balance exercise as we age balance is becomes very important, so think about strengthen the feet, ankles, and core which will help keep improve the posture.
