RESTART WAGE SUBSIDY
As an employer are you aware that there is in place a RESTART WAGE SUBSIDY?
This is a payment that you could be receiving and it is up to $10,000 (GST inclusive) all you need do is employ an eligible mature age job seeker for 12 months or more.
More over a $6,500 (GST inclusive) payment is available if the employment period is for aa minimum of 30 hours per week over 12 months period.
As an employer you are eligible to receive a pro-rata wage subsidy starting from $3,250 (GST inclusive) when you employ an eligible mature age worker for 15-29 hours per week.
An additional bonus is also available of up to $3,500 (GST inclusive) will be paid for employment which lasts the full 12 months, bringing the total up to $10,000 (GST inclusive).
For those businesses that many be able to employ 10 or more mature age workers, you are able to BUNDLE the Restart Wage Subsidy Agreements. Then you can negotiate with your jobactive provider to put in place a situation where you can obtain a portion of the wage subsidy as a lump sum. This lump sum payment is designed to help you the employer cover some of the upfront costs that may arise when hiring a number of new employees.
Are you eligible to attract the wage subsidy?
To be eligible to receive the wage subsidy, you are required to employ a job seekers who:
A. is over the age of 50 years or older
B. has been on some type of income support for a period of six months or more
C. is a person that is registered with a jobactive or Disability Employment Services or Community Development Programme provider.
As an employer you need to ensure you are not placed into a situation where you might miss out on the wage subsidy. You will need to get in touch with the job seeker's employment services provider within 28 days of employment. As you need to complete the application process to obtain the wage subsidy.
In the cast where you made contact and have employed an eligible mature age job seeker who may not be registered with an employment services provider, that particular employee will need to direct register with a jobactive provider as a Volunteer in order for your business to receive a wage subsidy.
Please note that it is very important that you need to ensure the job seeker registers with a provider within 28 days of starting work, otherwise you will not be able to access the subsidy.
