"Which is Better? All the egg or just the Whites? Hmm!"

Did you know that some people actually remove the yolks from the eggs before that start to cook them?

Some people believe that the egg yolks are not good or even terrible for you... because it is believed that is where all the nasty fats and cholesterol is.

We could also say that is where the all the NUTRITION is!

How confused some people can be about nutrition. Talk about Misinformation? There are many that mistakenly consider that the egg yolk is the worst part of the egg! NOT TRUE! The yolk is the healthiest part of the egg!

So DO NOT throw out the yolk! If you do you are essentially throwing out the most nutrient dense, vitamin, antioxidant-rich and mineral loaded part of the egg.

The egg yolk contains, B-vitamins, trace minerals, vitamin A, folate, choline, lutein, and a number of other powerful nutrients and a great number have not been listed here.

Interestingly the white of the egg have the least amount of nutrition compared to the yolks. As an example the protein in egg white is not as powerful without the yolk to which helps balance out the amino acid profile and makes the protein more bio-available. We should mention here that free range chickens are loaded with healthy omega-3 fatty acids.

Egg yolks contain over 90% of the calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, thiamine, B6, folate, and B12, and pantothenic acid of the whole egg and what’s more the yolk also contain all of the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, Plus all the essential fatty acids.

Some people have that understanding that eggs or should we say whole eggs drive up cholesterol levels. This is not totally true whenever you consume a food that contains higher amounts of dietary cholesterol like eggs, your body works it all out by down-regulates its internal production of cholesterol and brings a balance.

Keep in mind it you are not consuming enough foods containing enough cholesterol, your body makes the decision for you and produces more cholesterol.

Cholesterol is required by the body and assists with dozens of important vital functions in your body.

Interesting Facts About Eggs

Studies have been done many of them in regard to the consuming of whole eggs, and these studies have shown that eating whole eggs actually raises your good HDL cholesterol to a higher degree than LDL cholesterol. SO! By eating whole eggs you are actually improving your overall cholesterol ratio and blood chemistry.

Keep in mind that it is not good to have super high bad levels of cholesterol, then also remember that cholesterol by its self is NOT a disease!

Heart disease whoever is a disease! High cholesterol is not. Cholesterol on its own is a very important substance in your body and has vitally important functions.

At the present time there is a lot of propaganda promoting the idea of lowering your cholesterol. It is a very good idea as you get older to consult your doctor about your cholesterol levels. Not everyone needs to be on statin type drugs.

Getting back to the eggs, the egg yolk contains the antioxidant lutein and other antioxidants which will help protect you from inflammation within your body which gives you another reason to why egg yolks are good for you.

A recent study was completed at the University of Connecticut about why whole eggs are better for you than just the white of the egg. A group of men in the study were given 3 eggs per day to eat for 12 weeks and at the same time they were on a reduced carb, higher fat diet. They increased their HDL good cholesterol by 20%, while their LDL the not so good cholesterol stayed the same during the total study.

As part of the same study a second group ate egg substitutes (egg whites) they saw no change at all in either increased improvement or not so good cholesterol. Extra calories in the yolks? Yes there are!

But it must be sad that this really is a non-issue! WHY! Well while egg yolks contain more calories than just eating the white of the egg, the yolks do have a very high micro-nutrient density in those same calories, so that increases your overall nutrient density per calorie you consume. So! Essentially, this helps to regulate your appetite and thats a good thing, so eggs in the morning means you are not wanting a lot other food for the remainder of the day, so you in fact end up eating less calories! In addition, the healthy fats in the egg yolks help to maintain a good level of fat-burning hormones in your body.

So the overall fact are the extra fats and they are health fats, and calories formthe egg yolk are so full of nutrients which helps you burn off fat!

People that eat eggs at breakfast verses groups of people that ate cereal or toast type breakfasts. The egg eaters usually loose or maintained a healthier bodyweight, while the cereal/bread eaters gained weight.
